On May 15-16, 2024, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will host the International Environmental Forum "Ecology and Peace," dedicated to solving the environmental problems caused by the ongoing full-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Increasing conflicts, violent extremism, terrorism and related humanitarian crises and the resulting forced displacement of people threaten to reverse much of the development progress achieved in recent decades.
The key is peace. There can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development. Since the landmark Stockholm Conference in 1972, the environment has been included in the framework of sustainable development. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) prioritize action in critical areas for humanity and the planet, including environmental protection.

One of the Forum’s focuses is the humanitarian demining of Ukrainian land.

The key event of the Forum will be the Competition of innovative start-up projects and scientific and technical developments in the environmental field on the following topics:

Humanitarian demining of territories

Treatment of water and bodies of water

Waste collection and disposal

Other (in the context of environmental safety)

Teams with promising projects selected by potential customers/investors during the interim competition will be able to:

  • Complete an acceleration program tailored to these customers/investors
  • Become finalists of the XIII International Festival of Innovative Projects "Sikorsky Challenge 2024" (October 2024)
  • Get financial support for projects
